BREAK THE BARRIERBreak the Barrier is about reducing stigma.
As professionals working with people who suffer with mental health and addictions issues, we know the road to recovery starts with support, from family members, friends, peers and co-workers. To educate the public we can share our stories about our personal experiences with mental health and addictions. By doing this, we can offer hope, encouragement and support to others who are dealing with mental health and addictions issues, and to their families and friends who may be trying to help but don’t know how or where to start. When more people share stories of recovery, struggle or hope, it can also correct misconceptions and stereotypes about mental health conditions – it can help end stigma. Friends and family members can share their stories too! |
SELF-HELP HOARDING GROUPThe Saskatoon Housing Coalition is pleased to offer a weekly self-help support group for individuals with issues around hoarding. The group will meet informally every Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 at the Saskatoon Housing Coalition office at 319 Camponi Place.
Referrals will be followed up with a brief interview/application process. After doing two demonstration projects, the organization has identified the need to offer this self-help group in our community. The staff will continue to work on additional funding support to further develop the program into a more comprehensive support service to help individuals overcome their hoarding behaviours which puts him/her at risk of being homeless. |
